Experimental rap, up close

JPEGMAFIA — the rapper and producer born Barrington Hendricks — built a devoted following on chaotic sample-collage production and all-in live shows, from “Veteran” and “All My Heroes Are Cornballs” to “Scaring the Hoes,” his collaboration with Danny Brown. The Fillmore’s GA floor puts that energy right in your face: no seats, no distance, just a loud room and one of rap’s most unpredictable performers.

Good to know before you go

The Fillmore Charlotte is a standing-room-only room in the NC Music Factory entertainment district, a short walk from Uptown, and this show is open to all ages. Doors typically open about an hour before showtime — arrive early to claim a spot up front. Planning the whole weekend? See our Charlotte events this weekend roundup for more to do around the city.
