A two-game home weekend

The Hornets open with the Hawks on Friday night and come right back Saturday against Miami — two NBA games, one weekend, no leaving Uptown. If you’re already downtown for Friday’s game, Saturday is the easiest double-header of the season. Early-season crowds are buzzing, and the Heat are always one of the tougher visitors at Spectrum Center.

Start-time check: 6 PM, not 7

Don’t sleep on this one — Saturday’s tip-off is 6:00 PM ET, a full hour earlier than Friday’s game. Plan to arrive by 5:30 to clear security, and if you’re making dinner plans in Uptown, book for after the game or a quick pre-game bite.

The other Saturday plan

Not in a basketball mood? Candlelight: Halloween Classics plays the same evening at the Charlotte Museum of History, with shows at 6:30 and 8:45 PM — a spooky string-quartet date-night pick.
